Dan Mullen reveals plan for freshman QB Emory Jones for rest of season
A glimpse of the Florida future at quarterback was on display on Saturday in Jacksonville.
Freshman Emory Jones, who played in his second game this season after Charleston Southern, saw a little bit of playing time, but didn’t attempt a pass. He had four carries for 12 yards .
Jones had a long run of eight yards, and another run of six and appeared to put Georgia’s defense on its heels at time.
But he also had a third down and one play where he lost seven yards on what appeared to be an option play, and recovered his own fumble.
Jones hasn’t attempted a pass yet this season, and entering Saturday, he had three carries that lost a combined four yards.
Coach Dan Mullen said the plans are still to redshirt Jones, which means he has two games remaining to play this season.
#Gators coach Dan Mullen on Emory Jones’ role moving forward: “The plan is still to redshirt him, but we’ll see how it goes moving forward.”

Mullen said he put Emory Jones in because he wanted to give him the chance to take advantage of opportunities on quarterback runs.
