Chip Kelly, Scott Frost, Dan Mullen … even Jon Gruden.

Rumors are swirling around both Gainesville and Knoxville as Florida and Tennessee await coaching searches by their respective athletic departments to find out who their next head football coaches will be.

ESPN college football writer Chris Low joined Fayetteville’s Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly on Tuesday to discuss, among other things, the coaching search rumors.

Interestingly enough, Low said he believes that Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen would take the Florida job if it was offered to him.

However, he said, it could be “less of a slam dunk” between Mullen and Tennessee.

Mullen has been rumored as a popular candidate for both jobs if he were to choose to leave Starkville.

Mullen has been with Mississippi State since 2009, and has compiled a 69-45 career record as a head coach. His 2014 squad won 10 games and made it to the Orange Bowl.

An argument in Mullen’s favor for either job, potentially, is that he’s been able to overachieve with fewer resources at State. Many believe he could be even more successful at Florida or Tennessee, with more at his disposal.
