Many teams can’t shake the injury bug, while Florida doesn’t have that issue, the Gators are quickly becoming known as a team that can’t field a full roster thanks to suspensions.

With as many as eight players already suspended for the season opener against Michigan, Florida has just announced starting running back Jordan Scarlett and redshirt freshman receiver Rick Wells will also be suspended.

Scarlett led the Gators with 179 carries, 889 rushing yards and six touchdowns in 2016. Prior to this announcement, McElwain credited Scarlett’s attitude as one of the team’s most one of the team’s most confident players.

“Yeah, I love that,” McElwain said during the weekly SEC teleconference call. “You want everyone to have that attitude. They want the ball in their hands at the buzzer.”

One thing McElwain forgot, you can’t take the last shot if you don’t qualify to enter the game.

Florida’s season opener against Michigan is Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
