Florida basketball lands commitment from Michigan transfer
Sunday was a busy news day for Florida basketball. After both Andrew Nembhard and Tre Mann declared for the NBA Draft – while retaining eligibility to potentially return – the Gators picked up a commitment from Michigan transfer Collin Castleton.
Castleton made the announcement on multiple social media accounts. He posted a video to Instagram and a note on his Twitter account (below).
It will be a homecoming sorts of for Castleton, who is from Daytona Beach, Florida. Michigan officially lists him at 6-11, 235 pounds. In his sophomore season, Castleton came off the bench in 19 games, averaging 3.4 points per game.
Other notes from his UM bio:
• One of U-M’s most versatile big men
• Continues to adjust to the collegiate level
• Loves defensive end and will look to block shot
• Can hit the outside shot, but not afraid to play in the post
• Gained almost 30 pounds since stepping on campus and working with Jon Sanderson to build strength and add/maintain weight
