The Florida coaching search is going on in full force these days, with several top candidates emerging for the position.

However, at this point in time, it would appear that the Gators are zeroing in on former Oregon head coach Chip Kelly.

Sports agent and Florida insider Darren Heitner tweeted on Monday afternoon that the Gators have grown tired of dealing with super-agent Jimmy Sexton, who represented former coach Jim McElwain and top candidate Dan Mullen, among many others.

Heitner said Kelly could be named the Florida head coach as soon as this week:

It would be somewhat surprising to see the Gators make a hire this week, but if they are settled on Kelly, it makes sense to make a move sooner rather than later.

Kelly has a bit of a checkered past with the NCAA, but if Florida AD Scott Stricklin can deal with that, Kelly could be on his way to Gainesville sooner rather than later.
