Florida continued its white-knuckle success in Omaha with another one-run game to knock off TCU, 3-2, on Wednesday to advance to the College World Series final.

Florida got a big start from Jac Caglianone, as the Florida hurler went into the 5th inning thanks to 85 pitches.

Caglianone was supported by a 2-out, 2-run home run by Josh Rivera in the 1st inning. Rivera hit it 417 feet with a 105 m.p.h. exit velocity. TCU responded with a run-scoring single also in the 1st inning. The Horned Frogs looked to keep the rally going after they knocked off Oral Roberts on Tuesday at Charles Schwab Field.

TCU’s Anthony Silva launched a game-tying 2-out RBI double off Brandon Neely in the 8th inning with a hit to left-center field that short-hopped the wall. Neely responded with a 1-2-3 inning in the 9th, but not before the final out was caught on the warning track in center field. Florida has won all 3 games in Omaha by 1 run.

But the Gators responded with a 2-out RBI in the 9th thanks to an infield single to deep shortstop by Cade Kurland. That was setup by Tyler Shelnut’s leadoff double, and then pinch runner Michael Robertson was moved to 3rd on a sacrifice fly to deep right field. Robertson not only scored the game-winning run, but he also made the game-saving catch to end the game.

Rivera continued his hot play at the plate in Omaha with a 3-for-4 day and 2 RBI. For the CWS overall, Rivera improved to 4-for-12 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI.

TCU lost its opening game in the CWS to Oral Roberts but rebounded with elimination-game victories over Virginia on Sunday and a rematch against Oral Roberts on Tuesday. The Horned Frogs played their best baseball in the postseason, as they won 11 of 12 coming into this game. Their only loss was a 6-5 defeat to Oral Roberts that they avenged Tuesday with a 6-1 win over the Golden Eagles.

Caglianone left after he allowed 3 hits and 1 run with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts.

TCU starter Kole Klecker pitched into the 6th inning, and allowed 2 runs on 6 hits with a walk and 2 strikeouts.
