Florida earned a commitment from a new quarterback in the transfer portal on Sunday afternoon.

The Gators earned a commitment from ex-Colorado State quarterback Clay Millen. The former Ram began his career at Nevada, meaning Florida will be his 3rd program overall.

Here’s his announcement:

Millen was Colorado State’s starting quarterback in 2022. He threw for 1,910 yards, 10 touchdowns and 6 interceptions that season. He posted a passer efficiency rating of 149.8.

In 2023, Millen was slated to be CSU’s starter again but was removed from that role after the Rams’ Week 1 loss to Washington State. He did not appear in a game for the rest of the season.

Millen was originally a 3-star prospect. He was the No. 479 overall player and the No. 38 quarterback in the country for the class of 2021, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He hails from Snoqualmie, Washington.

Millen will presumably serve as Florida’s backup quarterback in 2024. The Gators have been looking for a new backup with experience after Max Brown decided to enter the portal earlier this offseason. Starter Graham Mertz is expected to return to the program for the 2024 season.
