After 5 seasons at Florida, David Reese is moving on. The outside linebacker announced Sunday that he is entering the NCAA transfer portal.

Reese thanked the coaches and staff at UF for “continuous support for these past 4 years” and writes that he has 2 remaining seasons of eligibility, indicating the NCAA has granted him an extra season.

Reese first joined the Florida program in 2018. He redshirted that season, making 2 appearances. Reese’s online bio shows that he did not make any appearances for the Gators in the 2019 or 2021 seasons. He played in 5 games during the 2020 season, which does not count against players’ 4 non-redshirt seasons of eligibility.

The 2022 season was Reese’s fifth at Florida. He appeared in all 12 regular-season games, recording tackles against Utah and Tennessee.

Out of Vero Beach, Reese was a 4-star linebacker prospect in the class of 2018, committing to UF in July 2017.

Stewart Reese, David’s older brother, transferred from Mississippi State to Florida for the 2020 and ’21 seasons.
