Florida fans may not have to wait long to see transfer wide receiver Jordan Pouncey in action.

On Wednesday, Gators head coach Dan Mullen told the media that the team will file for a waiver for Pouncey to be immediately eligible for the 2020 season. Pouncey transferred to Florida after spending the first three years of his college career at Texas.

He won’t be the first member of the Pouncey family to play for the Gators. His twin cousins, Maurkice and Mike, both played at Florida, as will his younger brother, Ethan, who committed to the Gators at the same time he announced his transfer.

Pouncey played in eight games for the Longhorns this season, notching two receptions for 19 yards. He didn’t record a catch after Sept. 14.

Listed at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, Pouncey was a 3-star recruit from Winter Park, Fla., prior to signing with Texas in 2017.

If the waiver for Pouncey gets approved, he could potentially play for the Gators next season. Florida opens the 2020 campaign with a home matchup against Eastern Washington on Sept. 5.
