Florida WR Marcus Burke looks to be moving on to continue his college football career elsewhere.
Pete Nakos of On3 reported Tuesday that Burke has officially entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. Burke announced his plans to enter on Monday via social media.
Out of Jacksonville (Florida) Trinity Christian Academy, Burke was a noted recruiting win for Dan Mullen’s staff in 2020. On the 247Sports Composite, Burke was rated 4-stars, the No. 28 player in the state of Florida, No. 33 wide receiver and No. 185 prospect overall in the Class of 2021.
Burke chose to play for Mullen’s Gators over scholarship offers from 20 other programs, including Auburn, Florida State, Georgia and Miami. Over 4 seasons, Burke has recorded 19 catches for 270 yards and 2 touchdowns. Billy Gonzales, the position coach who recruited Burke, returned to Florida and joined Billy Napier’s staff in 2023.
In 2021, Burke played in just 3 games, allowing him to take a redshirt and extend his eligibility to 2025. He would play in 26 more games over the next 3 seasons, cracking double-digit appearances for the first time in 2024 with 11 games played, including 6 starts.
Burke scored the first 2 touchdowns of his career in 2024. His first score came at Mississippi State. Burke snagged another TD in the regular-season finale at Florida State.
