The Gators officially have a new quarterbacks coach.

The position was left open following the departure of former offensive coordinator Brian Johnson, who was hired by the Philadelphia Eagles to be their new quarterback’s coach.

Dan Mullen didn’t have to leave the building to find his next Florida quarterback’s coach as the Gators have tabbed defensive analyst Garrick McGee as the new QB coach in Gainesville.

“Garrick brings a wealth of knowledge to our offensive room,” Mullen said in a released statement. “His track record for developing quarterbacks and explosive offenses will fit nicely with what we do.”

While he most recently served as a defensive analyst in Gainesville, McGee has a long history of working on the offensive side of the ball, having served as an offensive coordinator at Illinois, Louisville, Arkansas and Northwestern during his coaching career.

McGee also has experience serving as a head coach.
