After a strong finish to the 2015 recruiting cycle, Jim McElwain and Florida are off to a good start on 2016. The Gators received a commitment from defensive end prospect JaQuan Bailey on Saturday.

Bailey is a three-star prospect from Jacksonville, Fla. He’s listed at 6-foot-1.5 and 230 pounds, so he’ll have room to grow once he gets to Gainesville. The Gators were competing with in-state rival Miami for the defensive end’s commitment.

Bailey becomes the fourth member of Florida’s 2016 class, as well as the second defensive end. All four of the Gators commits hail from in-state: two come from Jacksonville and two from Miami. Three of the four come on the defensive side of the ball.

The four commitments earn the Gators the No. 29 spot nationally in 247sports’ industry composite rankings, although they’re currently ranked No. 11 in the SEC.
