Aug. 31 is more than seven months away, but Miami continues to send bulletin board material Florida’s way ahead of the Hurricanes and Gators’ Week 1 meeting in Orlando.

When UM athletic director Blake James introduced new head coach Manny Diaz, he said his message to fans was, “Two hundred forty-three days until we beat the Gators in Orlando.” Clearly the Canes feel confident from having won five of the last six meetings (2001 Sugar Bowl, 2001 season, 2003 season, 2004 Peach Bowl, 2013 season) over the Gators. Dan Mullen was at Florida as an offensive coordinator for UF’s last win over UM (2008).

Recently, the verified official Twitter account for the Miami football team tweeted out a simple hashtag.

On Thursday, K.J. Osborn announced his graduate transfer from Buffalo to Miami. He included a graphic showing him hurdling over Florida CB C.J. Henderson. The graphic appears to have been made by the UM athletic department.

Perhaps someone chose the No. 5 jersey because they’re still salty over Henderson, a sophomore out of Columbus High School in Miami, choosing the Gators over the Canes on National Signing Day in 2017. This season, Henderson recorded two interceptions and 38 total tackles, including five for loss and three sacks.
