The Florida Gators have had an ongoing battle for the starting QB spot this offseason.

Feleipe Franks, Luke Del Rio, and Malik Zaire have all been battling for the starting QB spot for the Gators. Nothing has been settled, but at least one person believes that Franks may win the job heading into the season.

Former Alabama QB Greg McElroy announced on the Paul Finebaum show that he believes Franks will win the job. The Finebaum show tweeted out the news with a photo of McElroy’s appearance.

Of the three QBs, Franks has the least amount of experience. Del Rio has thrown for 1,499 yards in 10 career games while Zaire has accounted for 1,140 yards of total offense in 15 career games. Franks has yet to throw a collegiate pass, but he may bring the most upside to the QB position for the Gators.

McElroy certainly knows a thing or two about being a QB in the SEC. He was a two-year starter at Alabama and threw for 2,508 yards and 17 TDs in the Crimson Tide’s 2009 national championship season.
