ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit has already picked Florida to win the SEC East and meet Alabama in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta.

But in a new podcast with Ian Fitzsimmons, the college football analyst discussed the buildup to the Florida-Michigan game, including roster shenanigans by Jim Harbaugh, the quarterback situation at Florida and the eight Florida players suspended. Herbstreit also didn’t wait until the College GameDay show to make his pick for the game.

He picked Michigan even with replacing 10 starters on defense and 43 seniors overall, “the heart and soul of that team.”

“Any time the Big Ten and SEC get together, people kind of stereotype the Big Ten as big strong and physical and the SEC is guys with all the speed, and I think that’s not necessarily the case with Michigan,” Herbstreit said.

“I think Michigan finds a way to win this game, and I think they’re going to play with a bit of a chip on their shoulder with a lot of people expecting them to kind of go away after they lost so many seniors.”

Herbstreit singled out defensive linemen Rashan Gary and Maurice Hurst for Michigan as names to remember, and the need for the Wolverines to develop offensive skill players.
