Paul Finebaum isn’t feeling great about Billy Napier heading into the 2024 season.

Finebaum made an appearance on Monday’s edition of “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning” on WJOX in Birmingham, Alabama to talk about some of the coaches that have stood out to him as the early signing period approaches.

Having a big recruiting day doesn’t work wonders for a program like it used to, according to Finebaum. However, Finebaum is eager to see where Napier lands once the early signing period opens on Wednesday.

“There’s still a lot of eyes on Gainesville. That’s not going to change, especially after Wednesday night when we saw that schedule,” said Finebaum. “Billy Napier’s picking up a few players, I’m really eager to see how he lands on Wednesday, but having a big recruiting day nowadays just doesn’t have the same impact.”

Even with a solid recruiting haul for Napier, Finebaum didn’t think that the momentum for Florida will change.

“How many times have you guys seen a program that had a wayward season or a big December, or February for that matter, and everyone gallops them into the next season? That can’t happen because the field is so small now in terms of the actual numbers that you need. I don’t think even with a major haul that he will dramatically change the momentum of that program.”

The early signing period opens Wednesday and ends on Friday.
