Former Florida CB Joe Haden has been cut by the Cleveland Browns, the team announced early Wednesday morning.

The team was reportedly trying to trade Haden on Tuesday and that effort ultimately came to an end with his release.

The Browns selected Haden No. 7 overall in the 2010 NFL Draft, and he became a two-time Pro Bowler in 2013 and 2014.

“We want to thank Joe for all he has done for this organization both on and off the field,” said Browns Executive Vice President of Football Operations Sashi Brown in a statement. “He has been a great teammate and a true asset to the Cleveland community. These are very difficult decisions, we have the utmost respect for Joe and in my eyes, he will always be a Cleveland Brown.”

During his Browns’ career, Haden started 81 games, recording 376 tackles, 101 passes defensed and 19 INTs.

“Joe gave everything he had for the Cleveland Browns and that’s all you can ask for as a coach,”said Browns Head Coach Hue Jackson in a statement. “He was a leader on and off the field. I wish him all the best as he continues his career.”

Haden was set to make $11.1 million this season, with $4 million of that guaranteed.

He should get several looks from NFL teams that hope he can return to the Pro Bowl form that he showed earlier in his career. The last two seasons Haden has dealt with injuries.

Haden enjoyed a standout career at the University of Florida from 2007-2009. He was ranked as one of the nation’s top athletes in the class of 2007, and he ultimately landed at CB over playing offense, as he played QB in high school. He helped Florida win the 2008 BCS National Championship and was a unanimous All-American in 2009.
