The Florida Gators appears to be moving on from head coaching candidate Chip Kelly.

Yahoo! Sports’ Pat Forde reported that Florida is moving on to option No. 2, UCF’s Scott Frost, and according to ESPN, the Gators will meet with Frost this weekend in Orlando.

ESPN’s report states that although Kelly hasn’t informed Florida he is choosing UCLA, UF officials have felt their chances of landing him have diminished since last Sunday’s meeting in New Hampshire.

Frost is in his second year at UCF, and the Knights have the nation’s top scoring offense, averaging 48.2 points per game. Early on in the coaching search process, Frost was the hot candidate and could be looked at as Kelly’s protege. Losing Kelly, however, is tough news for Florida fans, but Frost certainly brings an exciting offense and tremendous upside to the program, assuming he’s even interested.

The Knights are currently playing USF and leading 21-7 in the first quarter.
