According to multiple reports, Arkansas linebackers coach and associate head coach Randy Shannon is on his way to Florida to become Jim McElwain’s third coaching staff hire.

Shannon’s move to the Gators almost certainly means a likely departure of defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson. Shannon’s strength in recruiting is the South Florida area, like Robinson.

And with Shannon being named recruiting coordinator, it wouldn’t be shocking at this point to see Robinson explore other options at other universities, most likely at Auburn with Will Muschamp.

If Robinson does indeed leave the Gators, the addition of Shannon to the coaching staff will almost entirely absorb the loss of Robinson in regard to recruiting. As a head coach with the Hurricanes, Shannon reeled in impressive recruiting classes each year, including the nation’s No. 2 recruiting class in 2008.

Much of Shannon’s coaching history was with the Miami Hurricanes. From 1991-2006, Shannon held various assistant coaching positions with the Hurricanes before becoming Miami’s head coach in 2007.

He was fired by the Hurricanes in 2010 and took a few years off before becoming the linebackers coach at TCU in 2012. He held the same position with the Razorbacks since 2013.
