Florida is off to a hot start on Saturday night against rival Florida State.

After taking a 10-0 lead over the Noles in the first half, Florida pinned the Noles deep with an excellent punt late in the second quarter. Facing 3rd and 7, Florida brought pressure against FSU quarterback Tate Rodemaker.

The pressure got home before Rodemaker was able to find an open receiver, resulting in a safety and a 12-0 lead for the Gators. Princely Umanmielen and Derek Wingo were credited with the sack.

Here’s a replay:

The safety ended Florida State’s fourth offensive drive of the game. The first 3 drives for FSU resulted in 3 punts. Through 4 drives, the Noles have gained a total of 10 yards on 13 plays. FSU has just 1 first down over that time as well.

FSU hasn’t been able to do anything on the ground or through the air. Trey Benson has been stopped for a loss on each of its first 2 carries. Rodemaker began the game 4-for-8 for 31 yards.
