WATCH: Steve Spurrier has the perfect reaction to Feleipe Franks' boneheaded INT
Florida appeared to have the Miami game won until Feleipe Franks threw his worst pass of the night.
Up 24-20, the Gators had stopped the Hurricanes on downs to regain possession of the ball, only to give the ball immediately back to Miami — giving the team life in the 2019 season opener. The interception was the fourth turnover of the game in which Franks was involved with as the quarterback has thrown two picks and been involved with two lost fumbles.
Steve Spurrier, who is in Orlando for the game, was obviously not pleased with the signal-callers’ decision.
If you missed the exchange, here is Florida stopping Miami on fourth down with Franks giving the ball right back to the Hurricanes.

Spurrier’s reaction to the exchange was just perfect:

Yep. Felipe Franks is sure super-improved and Sideshow Dan the Clown makes QBs great. LOL.
This team SUCKS.
The Florida DLine is excellent and the Miami OLine is terrible. That was the deciding factor tonight. Franks doesn’t look improved at all.
^ This.
At home, I feel like SC has a good shot at nabbing a win against the team I saw tonight.
I am now picking Sakerlina to beat Floriduh as long as they don’t get bit by the injury bug again this year.
Trouble with all of these reactions we’re having is that 1) we haven’t seen all the other teams yet and 2) we haven’t seen how much these two will develop.
I agree that the UF team we watched tonight will almost certainly lose more games than projected if they play like that the whole season. I agree that a good number of their SEC games would likely be difficult for them. And I think personnel limitations will limit the amount of improvement that is possible. But I also think we should be careful of overreacting to the first game of the season, perhaps especially because it was a rivalry game.
Florida’s DL was outstanding and definitely won the game for Florida
Outstanding? They missed as many tackles as the rest of the defense. Good not great against a freshman Miami o-line
Man it’s hard to get 10 sacks against an FCS team, the D Line was impressive, especially Zuniga.
@LSUMC……The Florida D LINE is yet to prove anything!!!! Why call them excellent playing this group???? Plus they go for SACKS and sexy defense all the time. Which is why they get burned on the back end a lot!!!!
We will see how good their D LINE is. When the great chicken wire fence of Florida, takes on THE GREAT WALL OF GEORGIA!!!!!
MullenU won’t know what hit them!!!!
This is not in any way an elite team!!!! But wait and see if the media don’t pump it up as if they had beaten UGA or Alabama or CLEMSON!!!!!
What nearly happened is. The SEC was nearly embarrassed again by a team that Duke would beat!!! FLORIDA SUCKS THIS YEAR!!!! It’s going to take playing real teams to see that. But tonight they survived!!!

How can you be that bad and still not be improved?
My, how misguided and stupid you trolls are. It was a first game against a very good defense. Miami is going to be pretty good this year.
Florida made probably half a dozen game-losing mistakes, half of which were in the final minute. Do you have even the faintest clue how talented you need to be to make that many mistakes and still win?
Let’s hope your teams don’t have to play real opponents in their first games.
Or how bad their offense is…? Just call it, Florida sucked that game.
Reminded me of the UT/Ga Tech game. Not the way anybody wants to open a season.
I would venture to say it wasn’t Florida’s talent that alone overcame the mistakes. Miami’s incompetence contributed greatly. Miami will likely not be very good this year. Against a decent team, that performance probably doesn’t result in a win for Florida. There’s obviously lots of time for improvement though.
Imma just say it for you. Only reason Florida won tonight was the sacks the defensive line got. The terrible INT with like 4 mins left was prolly the stupidest playcall I seen in a long time(prolly the fake FG in the Natty)
Don’t poke fun because after Saban retires and HE WILL SOON. I have a feeling that Urban Liar wants to coach Florida again. That leaves Dan Mullen at Alabama!!!! LOL.
Provided the talent level is still high. He might win his first SEC WEST TITLE at Alabama. Before he totally destroys the team. LOL. I’m not sure he wins even then. Probably LSU would take it!!!
PS. No, really. What would bama fans do if Saban retires and Mullen gets the job??? I’m curious.

@NashvilleGator…….I would say, wanna bet??? But Miami plays in the crappy ACC with used to be has beens. If they make a bowl you gators and the media will say. See they made a bowl!!!! 6 WINS gets you a bowl. I’m not 100% sure they have 6 WINS in them!!!!
I’m not a troll. I am speaking the truth. FLORIDA SUCKS!!!!!!
They proved absolutely nothing except that they can get lucky!!!! Frank’s is still Frank’s and he was never your worst problem!!!
And no Miami is NOT a great defense!!!!
Your first TD came via THE WORST TACKLING I BELIEVE IVE SEEN IN YEARS ON A WR!!!! Toney’s TD RUN was a joke!!!! How many men were there grabbing at him???
JOKE JOKE JOKE!!!!!

You use your caps lock key like a 10-year-old.
Miami’s D is not great. But they will be very good. Miami will win all of their remaining regular season games.
Wait, what? Are you really predicting that Miami is going to run the table and not lose another regular season game?
Yeah-several gator fans are using this (and alcohol, it would seem) as a manner of coping with tonight’s objectively bad performance.
I saw him make that prediction elsewhere too. He really seems to believe it, huh.
Holy Cow!! That is some next level rationalization right there. With some hard-core denial thrown in for good measure.
That Florida team is going to get their rears handed to them several times this season.
“Do you have even the faintest clue how talented you need to be to make that many mistakes and still win?”
I recommend this, from the Univ. of Florida course catalog:
PHI 2100 Logic 3 Credits
Introductory-level survey of different methods of formal and informal analysis of the logical structure of propositions and arguments. Topics include syllogistic logic, propositional logic, quantification logic, inductive logic, informal fallacies, and probability.
Classic head ball coach.
Tale of two cities here. Seeing Spurrier’s reaction with 2 minutes left and then Mullen’s reaction after the game makes you think they were both watching two different games.
I personally hope Mullen continues to stick behind his man (Franks) for the rest of the season.
MIAMI 2018, 7 wins, 6 losses
vs.
FLORIDA 2019, ranked by the media as world beaters
( dear media, before you rank a team in the top 10 pre-season poll, have a reason)
Still no panic here, Florida can still be coached up, but raised eye-brows to the media that couldn’t figure out they were not there yet. Come on Gators…The SEC East, wants you to go 2-0 against the SEC West this year, among other wins.
Florida finished in the top 10 last year and return a good amount of talent. That’s why they are ranked where they are.
And the turnover chain goes to Franks!!
Good one!
I thought the cry-baby retired.
A man sitting there with no apparent reaction is the “perfect reaction” and a meme? Uh whut?
