Florida legend Chris Collinsworth kicked off the Dan Mullen era with Mr. Two Bits on Saturday, helping the Gators start off on the right foot in a 53-6 win over Charleston Southern.

Collinsworth was used to making big plays for the Gators on Steve Spurrier-Florida Field, but Mr. Two Bits was a whole different experience for him.

“It was a little unnerving walking out there, I’ve walked out there and caught passes, I was kind of used to doing that, you walk out there as a cheerleader, that’s a little different experience,” Collinsworth said. “Plus I loved the guy, I loved Mr. Two Bits, he was so awesome, so I wanted to do it right.”

Florida impressed in its first game of 2018, as quarterback Feleipe Franks completed 16-of-24 passes for 219 yards and 5 TDs in the first half alone. The atmosphere was electric, and Collinsworth was impressed with how Mullen handled his first game.

“On the very opening drive where they scored a touchdown, he (Mullen) comes out and goes for it on fourth down, they go down and score a touchdown so, you want to be popular as a coach that’s a good way to do it. You can tell the energy is really up in here.”
