Will Richard had another big night in Florida’s 89-70 win over Texas A&M on Saturday night.
Richard poured in 25 points, shooting 9-of-13 from the field and 6-of-9 from 3-point range. The Gators are now 25-4 on the season and are tied with Alabama for 2nd place in the SEC with 2 games remaining before the SEC Tournament.
For Richard, this performance caps off a remarkable week. He scored 30 points in Florida’s loss to Georgia earlier in the week. Over his last 2 games, he’s now averaging 27.5 points per night while shooting a combined 55% from 3-point range in those contests. Richard also has as many steals (3) as he does turnovers (3) during that stretch.
This performance marks the 5th time this season that a Florida player has scored at least 25 points in a conference game. Walter Clayton Jr. has accomplished that feat twice while Alijah Martin has done it once. Richard has now accomplished the feat in back-to-back games.
Thomas Haugh was also a major contributor in the win over A&M. He scored 17 points on 10 shots. Of the 9 players who saw playing time for the Gators on Saturday night, each of them recorded at least 1 assist.
Florida will be in action again on Wednesday against Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
