Xavier Filsaime has made it official. The 5-star defensive back announced Monday that he has flipped his commitment from Florida to Texas.

Filsaime’s flip was expected. The McKinney (Texas) standout was in Austin to visit Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns ahead of the Early Signing Period, which begins Wednesday. He took to social media to share the big news.

Listed at 6-1, 180 pounds, Filsaime is rated 5-stars, the No. 2 safety and No. 30 player overall in the Class of 2024 on the 247Sports Composite. He had been committed to Florida since April 13.

Florida is down to 19 high school commitments with Filsaime no longer on board. The class is now ranked No. 10 on the Composite, 5 spots down from where it was this weekend.

Texas now has the Composite’s No. 5 class. Sarkisian’s staff has 22 high school prospects verbally committed to play for the Longhorns.

The Gators and Longhorns are scheduled to face off on Nov. 9, 2024 in Austin. It will be interesting to see if Filsaime plays in the game.
