The Georgia Bulldogs took care of business in Athens against UAB, winning 49-21 on Saturday. The Bulldogs played a complete game even with a laundry list of injuries to contend with.

The schedule only gets harder from here, with a road tilt at Auburn next on the agenda.

Here are our 3 takeaways from another Georgia blowout win.

Carson Beck was spectacular

If Beck still had any doubters, they should be silenced after this game. Beck completed 22-of-32 passes for 337 yards and 3 TDs with no interceptions. The QB was throwing darts all night in what was easily his most complete performance of the season.

Although it was UAB, it’s still encouraging to see Beck perform like this, especially as we enter SEC play. If Beck can play near this level and the defense continues to dominate, the sky is the limit once again for these Bulldogs.

This defense is one of the best in the nation

The UAB Blazers collected 336  yards of offense on the night. The Georgia defense was smothering, collecting 1 sack, 5 tackles for loss, and 1 INT. Additionally, the Bulldogs allowed the Blazers to convert on just 4 of 15 3rd down opportunities.

Through the first 4 games of the season, the Bulldogs have allowed a combined points 45. That number includes an SEC foe in South Carolina, who scored just 14. We will find out just how good this unit is next week when the Bulldogs travel to Auburn.

Backups filled in admirably

The Bulldogs had a laundry list of injuries to deal with this week, with Kirby Smart classifying it as the longest injury report he’s seen at Georgia.

Star receiver Ladd McConkey is yet to take a snap this season, while Amarius Mims, Roderick Robinson, and Kendall Milton all were banged up against South Carolina. The offensive line survived without Mims, allowing just 1 sack. Daijun Edwards filled in admirably at RB with 66 yards and 2 TDs.

This is a deep Georgia team that can withstand some blows.
