Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has reeled in another great recruit.

Justin Fields, a 5-star dual-threat QB and the No. 1 ranked player in the nation by 247 Sports, picked the Bulldogs over Auburn, FSU, and LSU. It is another great win for Smart, and UGA will add another talented QB to an already crowded depth chart.

Fields held a press conference after his announcement to explain his decision. Fox 5 News shared video of Fields’ conference, and he says the decision came down to his comfort level and where his heart wanted to be.

“Probably the most comfortable I felt, just all the coaching staff there,” said Fields. “I felt like they wanted me the whole time, I mean coach (Dell) McGee, I feel like he’s probably the best recruiter in the country.”

Fields says he is already working on getting other players to join him in Athens next season:

“I know I just committed and everything, but I’m already hitting guys up, telling them to come join me cause I want the best players to play with me,” Fields explained. “Each and everyday at practice, the best defensive players, I want to get myself better and them better also.”

Fields also addressed the fact that UGA already has two strong QBs, and he says that Smart assured him the best player will play:

“Coach Smart, he hasn’t promised me any playing time,” said Fields. “The only thing he’s promised me is he’s going to play the best player, and that’s really the only promise I want. My plan is to just go in there, work hard, study the playbook and just really create those relationships with the players and do my best.”
