Georgia fans took in a new cause this week when they developed a movement to support Arkansas State coach Blake Anderson and his late wife, Wendy.

Sanford Stadium had a mix of with its traditional red and black as thousands of fans wore pink to support breast cancer awareness after Anderson’s wife died last month following a battle with breast cancer. A row of students in the student section had painted bodies with the message, “Remember Wendy,” a team mother who often brought snacks to meetings and opened the family home to all of the players.

As Anderson got wind of the support earlier in the week, he shared his appreciation while Georgia coach Kirby Smart acknowledged the battle for the Anderson family.

The feeling was mutual following Georgia’s 55-0 victory over the Red Wolves as Anderson tweeted his reaction: “OVERWHELMED, HONORED, and BEYOND GRATEFUL” with the hashtag notfightingalone.

There’s no doubt that Anderson and Georgia fans will remember this meeting for a long time.
