Georgia’s recruiting class just landed a new commitment, and unlike the other pledges picked up by Kirby Smart’s program this cycle, this news hails from outside the country.

The Bulldogs’ latest commit hails from Australia as punter Brett Thorson announced his commitment to Georgia on Wednesday.

“I am extremely honoured and excited to announce that I have committed to study and play football at the University of Georgia on full scholarship for 2022,” Thorson shared in his commitment post.

At this time, Thorson does not have a recruiting ranking listed.

The pledge from Thorson gives Georgia a total of 12 commitments in the 2022 recruiting cycle. The class currently ranks as the best in the SEC and No. 2 nationally behind only Ohio State.

Thorson is currently being trained by an organization called Prokick Australia. That organization has developed the likes of NFL punter and former Texas Michael Dickson, winner of the 2017 Ray Guy Award, as well as former Utah punter, Mitch Wishnowsky, winner of the 2016 Ray Guy Award.
