Brock Bowers has learned the next steps to heal his ankle injury that was sustained on Saturday.

Bowers will have surgery “to stabilize the ankle and a full recovery is anticipated,” according to Georgia’s sports information office, which shared the update on Monday morning.

Bowers had trouble putting weight on his left leg, and eventually kneeled to the turf where he pounded his fist in frustration. There was a hold flagged on QB Carson Beck on the play, as Bowers appeared to tweak his left ankle on the play before he was tackled. Bowers had 4 catches for 22 yards and had 2 carries for 11 yards.

Georgia has had several players have a similar surgery, and many of them have missed several weeks.

Before Saturday, Bowers this season had played himself into Heisman Trophy conversation, and had 37 catches for 545 yards and 4 touchdowns. Bowers was praised for his late-game heroics as Georgia won at Auburn earlier this season.
