The 2021 college football season kicks off with a bang as No. 5 Georgia takes on No. 3 Clemson in Charlotte.

This week, CBS Sports analysts Aaron Murray, Kevin Carter and Brian Jones shared their picks for the game.

Murray went with his alma mater.

“I am going with Georgia,” Murray said. “JT Daniels – this is the first time, in his career, that he is the starter from day one. He had to battle at USC, he had to battle when he got to Georgia – battle an injury. He has been the leader in spring, summer, fall camp. He is the guy they can rally around offensively. Hopefully, they open it up a little bit with Todd Monken. Defensively, they are going to be great. They will be able to run the football. A little worried about the receivers, but you got a quarterback finally in Athens.”

Carter, a former Florida standout, also went with his old SEC East rival.

“This is a tough one,” Carter said. “I like Uiagalelei but I think the better team up front on both sides of the ball is Georgia. Upfront, Jordan Davis, they have some horses up front. That defense will be sound.

“I like what they are doing on offense. I think Zamir White is going to be a great running back in a long line of good running backs and JT Daniels can sling it, so Georgia.”

Jones, who played at Texas, made it 3-0 for the Bulldogs.

“I am going to go with Georgia,” Jones said. “I just love Jordan Davis in the middle of that defense he is like that concrete furniture – immovable.”

The folks in Vegas think otherwise. Most sportsbooks have Clemson as a 3-point favorite. We’ll see if the CBS analysts are right and Kirby Smart’s squad pulls the upset.
