ESPN is out with an updated Way-Too-Early Top 25 following coaching moves and transfer portal activity, and several SEC teams are on the move.

For starters, ESPN’s Mark Schlabach noted that in the 36 days since then, Alabama coach Nick Saban retired, Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh left for the Los Angeles Chargers and Ohio State hired Bill O’Brien as offensive coordinator. Then O’Brien left for Boston College and Ryan Day hired UCLA’s Chip Kelly to replace him.

Georgia remains No. 1, but every other SEC team in the ranking of which there are 10 SEC teams ranked, have changed positions since shortly after the national championship.

Texas slipped 2 spots to No. 4 behind Ohio State and Oregon. Ole Miss and Missouri are at Nos. 6 and 7 as they each jumped up one spot. Alabama fell the most of any SEC team in the rankings, as the Crimson Tide fell 5 spots to No. 9.

Schlabach wrote: Alabama’s transition under former Washington coach Kalen DeBoer has already been rocky, with (Caleb) Downs and highly regarded quarterback Julian Sayin transferring to Ohio State, Bond and tight end Amari Niblack jumping to Texas, offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor returning home to Iowa and several players leaving for the NFL. Then, making matters worse, offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb and offensive line coach Scott Huff took jobs with the Seattle Seahawks last week.

LSU moved up 2 spots to No. 12, while Oklahoma moved up one spot to No. 14, and Tennessee also one spot spot better to No. 16. Kentucky joined the ranking at No. 23 after it was unranked previously, and fellow unranked Texas A&M entered at No. 25.
