Former Georgia basketball player Teshaun Hightower was arrested Saturday night on murder charges, according to Henry County (Georgia) records.
The current Tulane basketball player is also facing charges of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm and battery, according to Henry County Jail logs. The case of the April 8 shooting of 24-year-old Devante Anthony Long has resulted in the arrests of six people in Stockbridge, Georgia, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Long died of his injuries at the hospital.
Logs show Hightower was booked into Henry County Jail at 9:50 p.m. Saturday and is being held without bond. He was scheduled to appear in court at 8 a.m. Sunday.
Hightower came to UGA as a member of former head coach Mark Fox’s 2017 recruiting class. He was on scholarship with the Bulldogs for two seasons before transferring to Tulane. He averaged 6.6 points per game in one season under coach Tom Crean (2018-19).
Just recently, on April 18, Hightower had declared for the NBA Draft without hiring an agent.
