The University of Georgia has announced that one of its well-known alums, who regularly appears on ESPN, will give the undergraduate commencement address this spring.

ESPN reporter and UGA alumna Maria Taylor will deliver the remarks at 7:30 p.m. on May 13 in Sanford Stadium.

A 2009 graduate of UGA with a degree in broadcast news, Taylor joined ESPN as a college analyst and reporter in 2014. Taylor was named a reporter for ESPN’s “College GameDay” and ABC’s “Saturday Night Football” in 2017. She added “NBA Countdown” hosting duties in 2019.

Taylor has risen through the ranks of sports journalism and is now in her seventh season as an analyst, host and reporter for ESPN. She later returned to the UGA to pursue her Master of Business Administration, which she completed in May 2013.

Taylor is familiar to SEC fans from her time on the pregame shows, and on the SEC Network. Taylor became the first African-American woman to co-host College GameDay in 2017.

She previously served as the first female host of the SEC Network’s traveling college football show, “SEC Nation.” Prior to her role on “SEC Nation,” she helped launch the SEC Network as one of three studio hosts and worked as the SEC Primetime Saturday Night college football reporter.
