Georgia has landed a transfer commitment from former Stanford tight end Benjamin Yurosek.

After four seasons on The Farm, Yurosek hit the transfer portal in December. He told ESPN’s Pete Thamel on Friday that he will spend his final season of eligibility with the Bulldogs. Yurosek brings 35 career appearances, 108 receptions, 1,342 yards, and five career touchdown catches with him to Athens.

“Obviously Georgia has the best of both worlds,” Yurosek told ESPN. “They have big-time football and the use of tight ends.”

Georgia won’t replace Brock Bowers overnight, but Yurosek brings quite a few tools to the table that should benefit the Bulldogs offense.

He’s a 6-foot-4, 242-pound graduate transfer. Stanford ran him on a 50-yard end-around against USC a couple of seasons ago, and first-year Stanford coach Troy Taylor utilized him a bit more as a running threat in 2023 (11 carries in six games).

Yurosek’s best season came in 2021, when he brought in 43 receptions for 658 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games. Yurosek had 49 more receptions in 2022, but his production trailed off as the overall effectiveness of Stanford’s offense dropped off a cliff.

In 2023, Yurosek opened the season with nine catches for a career-high 138 yards and a touchdown against Hawaii. He had four catches for 54 yards the following week against USC, but was limited to just three catches over the next four games. He missed Stanford’s last six games with a shoulder injury.

Yurosek was a second-team All-Pac-12 selection at tight end in 2022. He was an honorable mention all-conference pick in 2021 and 2023.

He can play in-line or in the slot. Pro Football Focus has only charged him with five drops in 155 career targets. He also has 18 career contested catches on 32 contested targets, per PFF.

Yurosek joins a Georgia tight end room that also features Oscar Delp, Lawson Luckie, and Pearce Spurlin. The 2024 class also added 4-star freshman Jaden Reddell to the group.

Yurosek becomes the seventh known transfer addition for the Bulldogs this offseason.
