Georgia is a possible landing spot for one of the highest-rated quarterbacks remaining in the transfer portal.

According to the latest crystal ball projection from 247Sports’ Greg Biggins, the Bulldogs are now projected to land former UNLV quarterback Jayden Maiava. He’s coming off of an outstanding freshman season in-which he earned Mountain West Freshman of the Year honors in 2023.

Maiava entered the transfer portal last week. He was initially linked to USC — who has yet to add a QB via the portal this offseason — but is now seemingly trending toward a move to Athens.

With Carson Beck set to return to Georgia in 2024, the Bulldogs have their starting quarterback solidified for next season. However, Maiava could serve as Beck’s backup in 2024 and then compete with former 4-star QB Gunner Stockton for the starting role going into 2025.

Maiava completed 63.5% of his passes for 3,085 yards, 17 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2023. He also rushed for 277 yards and 3 more touchdowns on the ground.

Maiava redshirted in 2022, so he has 3 years of eligibility remaining.
