Greg McElroy is eagerly anticipating a crucial SEC East showdown.

The SEC is experiencing a large amount of shakeup in the midst of the 2023 season as Alabama is no longer fully on top. Georgia is also showing signs of not fully being the next dynasty team either despite winning 2 consecutive national championships.

The Bulldogs most recently topped the Auburn Tigers, 27-20, in a game many thought would never be that close. McElroy recently weighed in on Georgia and what things look like as Kirby Smart’s program faces Kentucky next up on the schedule.

“Georgia kind of licking their wounds a little bit, next week is going to be a war against Kentucky. Because what Kentucky did to Florida was downright domination,” McElroy explained. “Defensive line looks like they’re back, it looks like to an extent, the defense which we thought they were good… they’ve always been solid in the front seven… but it’s pretty amazing to me when you look at Kentucky and knowing that we didn’t really know a lot about them before yesterday, that team is built so similarly to a Georgia.”

Georgia and Kentucky are set to kick off at 7 p.m. ET in Athens, Georgia on Saturday. Coverage will be carried by ESPN.
