Georgia entered Saturday’s game against Troy as a 42-point favorite.

The Bulldogs scored 45 points in the first half. Sony Michel set a Georgia freshman running back record with three touchdowns, taking seven carries for 138 yards. Eight different players caught at least one pass.

UGA has scored more than 45 points in one half just three times in history:

49 vs. New Mexico State in 2011
49 vs. NE Louisiana in 1994
46 vs. The Citadel in 1958

Marshall Morgan made a 37-yard field goal preventing a tie for the team’s all-time record in one half.

The 45-0 total sets up the Bulldogs for potentially the biggest win in years. UGA knocked off Coastal Carolina, 59-0, in 2011, and that ’11 team beat New Mexico State, 63-16.

Hutson Mason and Todd Gurley may not play at all in the second half. Gurley ran six times for 73 yards in one series.

Troy, meanwhile, has allowed 48, 34, 38 and 45 points in three-and-a-half games. After playing a respectable game against Duke, the Trojans are headed for 0-4, and coach Larry Blakeney, who runs a once-respected program, may be encouraged to quietly resign after the season.

Back to gambling for a moment: the over/under closed at 64, so those who put money on a high-scoring game still need 20 second-half points to cash.
