Jake Fromm will have to continue his NFL career elsewhere. The former Georgia quarterback is being released by the Washington Commanders, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The 25-year-old Fromm passed for 261 yards, 3 touchdowns, and an interception during 3 preseason games behind quarterbacks Sam Howell and Jacoby Brissett.

Despite making the decision to part ways, Commanders coach Ron Rivera lauded Fromm for his professionalism and dedication to his craft. Fromm has been with the Commanders since 2022.

“I think Jake has shown himself to be a worthy guy,” Rivera said. “He’s done a nice job for us. We know he’s got a terrific background, having played at an SEC school (and then being with Buffalo and been with us the last couple of years. He’s been a guy that’s been good in our quarterbacks room, as well.”

Fromm was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the 5th round of the 2020 NFL Draft and has also spent time with the New York Giants.

While at Georgia, Fromm was a Freshman All-American (2017) and passed for 7,236 yards, 78 touchdowns, and 18 interceptions during his 3 seasons.
