Jalen Carter entered the week on his way to the NFL Combine and looking like a consensus top-5 pick in this year’s draft. That could change following recent details coming to light on Wednesday.

A warrant was issued for Carter’s arrest on counts of reckless driving and racing. It is alleged Carter was involved in the fatal car crash that took the lives of Georgia player Devin Willock and recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy.

After the news came to light, NFL insider Ian Rapoport addressed the information and how teams are reacting. According to Rapoport, teams were unaware of Carter’s potential involvement in the wreck until Wednesday.

“I’ve talked to several teams that spoke to him while he was in Indy, these issues did not come up… There’s going to be a lot to dig into,” explained Rapoport. “This is an extremely, extremely talented player, the off-the-field issues are just now coming to light. Teams were not aware of his apparent involvement in the fatal crash until this morning. There have been rumors but they were not sure that he was involved until this morning when the AJC broke this story.”

We’ll see how Carter’s outlook for the NFL Draft changes while the warrant is getting addressed.
