Jayden Maiava enjoyed a strong redshirt freshman season at UNLV before announcing his plans to enter the transfer portal. It looks as if the 2023 Mountain West Freshman of the Year has decided on where he’s headed next.

Maiava on Monday committed to Georgia, according to NIL agency the Nilx Group. He has 3 years of eligibility remaining.

A 3-star recruit from the Las Vegas area in 2022, Maiava stayed local and signed with UNLV out of high school. He redshirted his first season as the Rebels went 5-7.

He was originally slated to back up Doug Brumfield behind center but was called into action in Week 3, finshing the season with 3,085 yards and 17 touchdowns vs. 10 interceptions. He also added 277 yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground. UNLV, in Barry Odom’s 1st season, saw a 4-win improvement from 2022, finished with its best record since 2013, and qualified for a bowl for the first time in 10 years.

Now Maiava is headed to Georgia, where Carson Beck put together solid numbers in his 1st season as starter for the Bulldogs. The Dawgs also have Gunner Stockton and incoming 4-star recruit Ryan Puglisi, the No. 9 signal-caller in the class of 2024, in their quarterback room. Former 4-star Brock Vandagriff, a top-20 recruit out of the 2021 class, transferred to Kentucky after 3 seasons with Georgia.
