Joel Klatt knows Georgia is an overwhelming favorite in the SEC this fall. He also understands there are only a few teams with a realistic shot to take down Kirby Smart’s squad this fall.

In the latest episode of “The Joel Klatt Show,” he broke down 3 teams in the SEC that have an actual shot to beat the Bulldogs. He even explains why his list is mainly “2.5” teams with a shot to beat the team out of Athens.

“Who are the teams in the SEC that could potentially knock off Georgia? I think it’s only 3, maybe like 2.5,” said Klatt. “Sorry, Tennessee, Tennessee gets half a nod.”

Klatt begins his list with the obvious selection of Alabama. Though the concerns at quarterback exist, he says doubting Nick Saban is a dangerous place to be in.

“You gotta start with Alabama. They’re being doubted. That’s a scary place to be,” explained Klatt. “Doubting Nick Saban is not how you make money in this industry. Nick Saban has recruited as well as anybody… This is going to be a deep team that should be very good defensively. I think they’re going to be a hungry team, I like the culture of that team.”

However, the team Klatt believes has the best chance of matching up with Georgia on the field this season resides in Baton Rouge. Klatt explained why he’s high on Brian Kelly’s LSU program and why he expects the Tiger offense could push Georgia.

“Now we come to the team that I actually think I’m like ‘This is a team that actually could beat Georgia,’ that’s LSU,” Klatt said. “LSU has depth, they’ve now gone through a season and transitioned to Brian Kelly. They were No. 2 in the transfer portal, mostly on the defensive side. They’ve got their QB back. They’ve got WRs on the outside…

“I think LSU has some serious potential. I think they beat Florida State early and then we see what this team can develop into as the season goes along.”
