Georgia and Alabama are off and running in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta. The Bulldogs scored a touchdown on their first drive of the game and currently holding a 7-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Unfortunately, one key piece of Georgia’s offensive line is already out of the game. Per CBS’s Tracy Wolfson, Amarius Mims is out of the game and the broadcast included he is questionable to return.

The ailment Mims is battling was reported as a left ankle injury:

“He’s currently out of the game with a left ankle injury,” reported Wolfson.

Mims has played in 6 games with 5 starts for the Bulldogs this season as the team’s primary right tackle. He was injured in the game against South Carolina and was able to return for the win over Ole Miss.

The CBS broadcast also briefly touched on the fact Mims had tightrope surgery, similar to the injury and surgery that Brock Bowers underwent this season. We’ll see if Mims is able to return, but that is a position to monitor for the rest of the game in Atlanta.
