There are plenty of approaches to the transfer portal for coaches across the country.

Georgia head coach Kriby Smart was asked at his SEC Media Days availability Wednesday how the Bulldogs handle offseason transfers, seeing how the program has not brought in a transfer for the upcoming roster. The recent National Champions field a lot of calls as one can imagine, but there are only so many spots on the field, per Smart.

“People called us and were begging to come, but we didn’t think it was a fit because we had depth at that position,” Smart said, via Dawgs 247. “The positions we needed the most, we didn’t necessarily win out at. We’re going to go with what we got as opposed to taking someone who is not a fit. Those positions are so important and so critical to fit because if they come in and don’t fit, you’re in a precious situation where you could destroy your team chemistry.”

Georgia is currently the only Power 5 program that has not added a single prospect from the transfer portal.
