Kirby Smart met with members of the media following the Bulldogs’ blowout victory over the UT Martin Skyhawks Saturday evening.

There was a change of pace for Georgia to start 2023. Carson Beck, not Stetson Bennett, was at the helm of the Georgia offense with the latter off to the NFL, 2 rings later. There were definitely some reps Beck would like to have back against competition such as the Skyhawks, but he played better and better as the game wore on.

Beck finished the game having thrown for 294 yards with 1 touchdown and 0 interceptions. He completed 21 of his 31 passing attempts and rushed for 12 yards and 1 touchdown.

Here’s what Smart had to say about Beck’s performance Saturday:

Beck will face similar competition next week when the Bulldogs take on Ball State, which fell to Kentucky 44-14 earlier Saturday afternoon.

South Carolina represents Georgia’s first opponent of consequence to test Beck in coming weeks. The Bulldogs will face off against the Gamecocks on Sept. 16 at 3:30 p.m. on CBS.
