Kirby Smart was proud of his “resilient bunch” which had a “never-say-die” attitude despite the loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship.

“Great team,” Smart told Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports. “I thought our guys kept fighting throughout it, battled back, we lost our tackle (Amarius Mims) during the game there, and had 2 of the wideouts down. But I was really proud of the way the guys kept fighting and was really resilient.”

Smart said Alabama didn’t throw any wrinkles at Georgia that it didn’t expect.

“We busted a coverage, a freshman linebacker in there that he hit a wheel route on,” Smart said. “Kid’s in the game because the other 2 were down and they hit a wheel route for a free touchdown and then we gave them the field goal on the turnover. We ended up stopping them on defense, we did a great job there, but that’s 10 points.”

Smart and Georgia will learn their bowl fate Sunday at noon on ESPN.
