Kirby Smart spoke about star defensive lineman Jalen Carter on Monday ahead of the Georgia Tech game, and spoke about how he’s bounced back from injury and showed the kind of stamina NFL teams look for in the NFL Draft.

“The assumption you make is generational wealth is on the line,” Smart said. “The way I look at it is he’s earned generational wealth, it’s not given, right. He hasn’t had an opportunity to play all year and show his skillset and really show his stamina. In all his years playing here, he never got to play that many snaps, so he’s creating value for himself with the way he’s playing.”

Smart spoke about the top end of the NFL Draft and said there’s a huge difference between pick No. 3, pick No. 10 and pick No. 14.

“It’s not about that for him, it’s about being with his teammates, wanting to do something special,” Smart said. “He was really close and a brotherhood with those guys last year and they’re gone now and he’s trying to do something that they didn’t do, and he’s giving us all he’s got.”
