Kirby Smart wants his team to be known for being disciplined. The Georgia coach believes it’s not talked about enough.

After a game in which Kentucky saw its upset hopes largely dashed in the first half in part because of late hits and personal fouls, Smart was proud with how his players responded.

“Our team had great discipline tonight to not get cheap penalties,” Smart said. “And we told them. We said, ‘Hey, look, Kentucky’s going to have some penalties. They’ll have guys push you, shove you, or do something to you. Just don’t respond to it.’ I thought our guys were really good. You know, it really cost them on a drive. They stopped us, and then they had a kid hit Sed. And that converts a 3rd down that we didn’t convert, and we go down and score that drive.”

The win helped Georgia extend its winning streak to 23 games, and land a meaningful win over a ranked team.

“People don’t ever talk about the discipline our team has,” Smart said. “So I respect our guys for not retaliating or taking shots when people do things, you know, to take shots at you.”

Georgia returns to action next week at Vanderbilt.
