Many see the Rose Bowl as a matchup between one of the best offenses in the country (Oklahoma) against one of the best defenses (Georgia).

Pro Football Hall of Famer Terrell Davis echoed part of that sentiment during a recent segment on ESPNU Radio on Sirius XM. The former Georgia player admitted to being “a little biased,” but explained why he would pick Georgia to win the College Football Playoff semifinal.

“Well, you know I’ve got to be a little biased here,” he said. “I’m hoping it plays out like this: where Georgia’s defense, which I saw in the SEC Championship just looks phenomenal, and they have pretty much the entire year. Now they’re going to have their hands full. But if they can play defense, sort of the old adage, play defense run the football, you quarterback just sort of make enough plays to win this game, which I think is going to happen. I see Georgia pulling this thing off, it’ll be a close game. I’m predicting a score of maybe 24-21 Bulldogs.”

The Sooners (12-1) were the second seed in the four-team field, while the Bulldogs (12-1) were third. It’s the first time since after the 2001 season that the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. will be played without a team from either of its traditional conferences, the Pac-12 or Big 10.

The winner advances to the title game Jan. 8 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
