LOOK: Unrelenting Georgia fan base swallows Vanderbilt Stadium
Georgia’s fan base has developed a reputation in recent years of invading opposing team’s stadiums.
It started in earnest two years ago at Notre Dame when the Bulldogs traveling to the Chicago and South Bend, Indiana area caused an overbooking situation for Delta Airlines. Georgia fans spilled into Wrigley Field to watch Vince Dooley throw out a pitch at a Chicago Cubs game. And they put plenty of red in Notre Dame Stadium as the Bulldogs upset the Fighting Irish.
That traveling road show continued at the Rose Bowl that season, and now it’s being done in Nashville at Vanderbilt.
Expectations rose about a red and black invasion leading up to the game, but it was noticeable on the opening kickoff as Georgia fans performed the trademark “calling of the Dawgs,” and wide-angle pictures of the stadium revealed a lopsided fan breakdown.
Vanderbilt lost any hope of a home-field advantage.
