Former Auburn assistant coach Scott Fountain has been hired at Georgia, according to a report by UGASports.com.

The report cites Fountain’s wife’s Facebook post, as well as Fountain’s Twitter handle that reflects being a member of UGA’s staff in some capacity. However, it’s still not clear what position he’ll hold. Fountain most recently served as Auburn’s tight ends coach and special teams coordinator from 2013-2016. He previously served as Auburn’s player personnel director from 2013-2012. Fountain left Auburn after his contract wasn’t renewed this past February.

Fountain is known as a strong recruiter. Among his many accomplishments at Auburn, he developed H-back Jay Prosch and tight end C.J. Uzomah, both of which are in the NFL. Fountain is also known for having developed returner Chris Davis, punter Steven Clark and current kicker Daniel Carlson with the Tigers on special teams.

It was reported in February that Auburn hired Larry Porter as an offensive assistant to replace Fountain’s position on the staff.

We’ll update the story when more details are available.
